I have always been very interested in family history. I am sure it is genetic; my family’s interest in the subject started in the 1930s when my great great uncle Alf began research following an announcement about the proceeds of a will in our family name. The research was carried on by my father in the 1970s and 80s and eight years ago I decided to take things further. It has been immensely rewarding, I have discovered some amazing ancestors particularly on my paternal grandparents line who are both descended from English, Scottish and French royalty. I have been very lucky, I have managed to trace well over 2000 of my direct ancestors, and love finding out where they came from and where the information exists what they did for a living. Following on from this I have also been researching family histories for family friends too getting back to the 1500's in both cases.
I have had several family photographs published in Who Do You Think You Are? Magazine.
I have traced an ancestor who travelled from Palatinato, Germany to Exeter College, Oxford to study Theology and became a Doctor of Divinity and Rector of Fleet Marston, Bucks.
I have researched ancestors who fled the North of England sacrificing their wealth along with their castle, after the War of the Roses, and settled in Gloucestershire.
Under the harsh laws of the 'Bloody Code' I have found ancestors who after committing petty crimes, were Transported for 7 years to Tasmania. Though never to be heard or seen again!
A pub once led me to an amazing discovery of ancestors. After carefully analysing the will of the ancestor involved I discovered that his witnesses in the will were nephews on his wife's side. His wife was descended from the English aristocracy.
I am now offering the service professionally; I can help get you started, help you when the going gets tough as well as carry out the entire research for you.
